Standards Committee
This Committee has responsibility for promoting and maintaining
high standards of conduct by Councillors. It advises the
Council on the Members’ Code of Conduct and helps Councillors to
observe the Code. The Committee can investigate complaints about a
Councillor’s conduct and can censure or impose a sanction on a
Councillor who has not acted in accordance with the Code of
Conduct. The membership of the Committee comprises eight
members, two from the Conservative and Labour groups and one
from the Liberal Democrat group, together with three
independent members who are not Councillors.
