In the mid 1980’s the Latton Bush School
closed due to falling rolls. The site comprised approximately
90,000 sq.ft, a typical late 1950’s building, structurally sound,
and sited in 20 acres of land.
Harlow Council felt strongly that a building
conceived for community use should remain within the community,
providing facilities that would reflect the varied social and
business life within the town.
Following a wide public consultation exercise,
Harlow Council set objectives that the site - now named The Latton
Bush Centre- would play a leading role in local economic
development, leisure activities, promotion of the arts and have a
commercial role as a conference and training centre.
In the two main blocks of The Latton Bush
Centre, companies occupy high specification office units at
competitive rents.
In January 2007 Harlow Council took over the management of
the Latton Bush Business Centre, which comprises of 19 units
for office or light industrial use.
Now the Latton Bush Centre is being run by one management team,
supported by Harlow Council, it provides a large business and
conference centre, to the wider community of Harlow.
In order to compete successfully, the Centre needs not only to
be competitive on the commercial rent, but also to offer a site
that presents the right kind of image to a potential tenant.
Therefore, a high level of maintenance is needed, in order that the
building both looks attractive and is a safe and pleasant place in
which to work and play. The advantage of the Latton Bush
Centre is that it offers an environment unique within the area.
The Latton Bush Centre is the home to
tenants that include a commercial radio station Ten 17, the Griffon
Day Nursery, Harlow Tennis Association, the Edge Martial Arts
Studio, the Counselling and Life Management Centre (CALM) and The
Dance Centre/Pirates, West Essex PCT Child Health Team, Continuing
Care, Long Term Conditions & Research, Community Mental Health
and other support services.
The Latton Bush Centre also provides
conference facilities, which compete favourably with local hotels
and conference centres. All bookings are subject to our
standard terms and conditions. All of the conference rooms
are equipped to a high standard. The Centre
is situated close to the M11 and within easy reach from the
train station. There is ample free parking on
site.
A highlight for 2008 is that the Centre was used by the BBC to
film an episode of the BBC2 programme Flog It! in
May.
