BIG SOCIETY
Neighbourhood Forums

Getting involved in discussions and decision making
about local issues.
Harlow Council is committed to
engaging with people at a local level and along with key partners
such as Essex County Council, Essex Police, Essex Fire and Rescue
Service, NHS, Education, faith groups and the voluntary sector,
wants to provide opportunities for people to become involved in
decision-making at a local level.
Neighbourhood Forum meetings are a
foundation for neighbourhood working in Harlow and provide the
opportunity for all residents, regardless of whether they are
homeowners or tenants, and people that work or experience leisure
opportunities in the town to get involved in decision-making about
local services and matters that affect them.
Meetings include presentations from a
range of organisations and are focused on services and issues that
the Council has been told are of interest to people in the local
area. Examples of services involved in Neighbourhood Forums
include Harlow Council’s Regeneration, Youth, and Community Safety
teams; the Contact Harlow service, Youth Offending, Probation,
Essex Police and the NHS as well as voluntary sector groups.
Refreshments are provided and there is
an opportunity to attend a ‘Market Place’ session when people have
the opportunity to meet other Harlow residents, Ward Councillors
and staff from agencies who work in partnership with Harlow
Council. Most importantly the Forums provide local people with the
opportunity to tell us how they would like to be involved in
neighbourhood working.
Neighbourhood Forums have already been
held in the Great Parndon and Church Langley areas and due to the
great success of these the Council will be rolling out a programme
of meetings across the town in the near future.
Support your local Neighbourhood Forum – come along and have your
say.
Your views and input to local issues are important to us.
