Big Society Team
The Big Society Team works with internal and external agencies
and community and voluntary group to help build strong, involved
communities where people have a say in local decision making and
where social action and volunteering opportunities are encouraged
and supported.
The team supports and advises resident's associations and has
responsibility for rolling our a programme of Neighbourhood Forums
meetings across the town which will give people more say about
things that matter to them and in local decision making
precesses.
Further, the team assists in tackling and reducing anti-social
behaviour by working intensively with families who are exhibiting
behaviour that negatively impacts on the community: by working with
schools on community projects and by raising awareness amongst
children and young people about the importance of positive
citizenship and social responsibility.
The team has management responsibility for the direct provision
of services at Sam’s Place (Foldcroft
Centre) which delivers services for children with a disability
including Play Schemes in the major school holidays, Saturday Club
and Youth Club sessions. Our staff can also offer advice, support
and guidance to the siblings and families of children with a
disability.
