European Elections

The Eurpean Parliament consists of 736 elected members, with a
different number from each of the 27 Member States of the
European Union:
Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark,
Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Republic of
Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, The
Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain,
Sweden, United Kingdom
The UK holds 72 seats in the European Parliament and these
are distributed between 12
European Parliamentary regions. Harlow is part of the
Eastern Region which holds 7 seats in the European
Parliament.
The Members of the European Parliament are elected every five
years, the next one is expected to be held in 2014.
