Environment
Harlow is set in the heart of the beautiful
Essex and Hertfordshire countryside. Careful planning ensures the
town sustains a balance between the needs of business and the
environment. The town maintains a rural atmosphere with over one
third of land devoted to parks, woodlands, ponds and open
spaces.
Environmental Services deals with a range of
functions concerned with protecting and improving the environment
of the district. One of our key aims is to create a cleaner and
greener district, in order to ensure that the highest quality
environment is enjoyed by residents and visitors alike.
Through initiatives like the Together we can…clean up our town
programme we are achieving attractive and cleaner streets,
neighbourhoods and open spaces….places people are proud to live in
and visit. We are also developing sustainable waste management
through recycling and waste minimisation and working hard to deal
with graffiti and flytipping that impact on the local
environment.
