Air Quality Monitoring
As part of the process of
detailed assessment of the air quality around the A414, monitoring
data was needed to check that the air quality model used was
providing accurate results.
The Council set up and
maintains an air quality monitoring station at Potter Street
School, continuously monitoring fine particles [often called
“PM10”] and Nitrogen Oxides, both emitted by traffic.
To cover a wider
geographical area, passive diffusion tubes are used to collect
average nitrogen dioxide levels at a number of sites.
Results from the air
quality station and from the diffusion tube sites are shown on the
Air Quality Consortium Website, www.essexair.org
