Development Management News

Building Control is a statutory function that promotes and
enforces the current Building Regulations which set minimum
standards for the construction of buildings. For more

Covenant Control administers the restrictive covenants that
apply to the majority of owner-occupied former Harlow
Development Corporation housing stock. If you own a
property in Harlow (excluding Church Langley) you may need to seek
approval if you wish to make an alteration to its appearance or

Development Management is responsible for processing planning
applications relating to new buildings, extensions to existing
buildings or changes of use as well matters relating to trees and
listed buildings to ensure the statutory planning requirements are

Forward Planning is responsible for drawing up the planning
policies that will manage the future development of Harlow,
including the production of Harlow’s emerging Local Development
Framework (LDF). Other key elements of the team’s work
include the management of strategic planning issues concerning the
future growth and development of the town, public consultation,
policy monitoring, and the preparation of technical studies to
support the LDF evidence base. Follow

Structural Engineering is responsible for checking structural
design calculations and drawings submitted under Building
Regulations to ensure the structural stability of the building is

The Planning
Portal is the Government’s online service for Planning.
It allows you to apply for planning permission
electronically as well as submit and track an appeal
online.
