buildings or changes of use as well matters relating to trees and
listed buildings to ensure the statutory planning requirements are

The Council’s Online Application Register is
synchronised with the planning system on a daily basis. You
can use the register to search previous applications, check
the status of an application, view which applications will be
decided by a planning committee and submit comments online.

Many works to residential properties require
the benefit of planning permission prior to works being carried
out. The Town and Country Planning (General Permitted
Development) Order 1995, as amended 2008 (GPDO), sets out a series
of criteria and conditions that establish whether the development
proposed is exempt or not from requiring planning permission.

Legislation relating to High Hedges came into force from June
1st, 2005. Part 8 of the Anti-social Behaviour Act
2003 created new procedures enabling local authorities to deal with
complaints about high hedges. Where negotiation has failed, a
complaint can be made to the council who will access the case,
