Did you know?

Baby surrounded by nappies

One child may wear up to 5,000 nappies before potty training?

PARENTS

Parents want the best for their children.
This isn't just about mental and physical well being but also social well being.
To achieve this we must pass on a healthy environment. One way of helping make sure that our children have a 'green' future is by using modern cotton nappies, which can work out cheaper than disposables.

DID YOU KNOW

  • Disposable nappies make up to 50% of waste for a family with one child.
  • Nappy waste may contain up to 100 viruses, such as polio, which remain active for up to 2 weeks after disposal.
  • A typical authority spends over £10,000 a year to dispose of nappy waste - this money is added to your tax bill.
  • Some parts of disposable nappies never breakdown. This means that the nappies youthrow away could still be around when your great, great, great grandchildren are born.

YOUR BABY

Modern cotton nappies have come a long way since the old-style Terry and there is no need for lots of folding and pinning anymore. Modern cloth nappies come in a wide range of sizes and styles and are shaped, fitted and fasten easily without the need for pins. As they are made from natural fibres they will also be more comfortable next to your baby's skin.

YOUR POCKET

The 'Number 1 for Nappies' laundry service delivers a supply of fresh cotton nappies every week, at the same time collecting the soiled nappies, all for £8.50 per week.

Our nappies are made of 100% cotton, they are folded in three and held in place with breathable, waterproof 'nappy wraps' which fasten quickly and easily using velcro. With no pins, what could be easier? The wraps come in plain and patterned and are available in six sizes. They fit snugly and feature leg gussets to help prevent leaks.

Nappy wraps make nappy changing fast and easy. When the nappy is soiled all you have to do is put it in the bin provided and collection and delivery are done for you. No more lugging home large bags of disposable nappies!

YOUR ENVIRONMENT

The eight million nappies thrown away each day in the UK amounts to about 800,000 tonnes of nappy waste each year - enough to fill Trafalgar Square to the top of Nelson's Column more than ten times over!

Almost all nappy waste is buried in landfill sites - research estimates that they could take up to 500 years to decompose.
