Parndon Wood Nature Reserve
Parndon Wood Nature Reserve is located on the southern outskirts
of Harlow, Parndon Wood has been recorded as a woodland for at
least 900 years and therefore can be termed as “ancient woodland”.
The site is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest
(SSSI) in a Favourable Condition due to its flora and value as an
educational resource. Parndon Wood is holder of the prestigious
Green Flag Award and hosts the Forest Funtasia project, providing a
wide range of events and activities for visitors and volunteers at
the Conservation Centre and in the woods.

Harlow Marshes
Harlow Marshes Local Nature Reserve is located on the northern
outskirts of Harlow along the Stort navigation. The Reserve
consists of three sites Maymeads Marsh, Marshgate Springs and
Parndon Moat Marsh which provides a range of wetland habitats that
can be accessed along way marked paths and boardwalks. Maymeads
Marsh also has a viewing hide overlooking the main pond.

Hawkenbury Meadow
Hawkenbury Meadow Local Nature Reserve is a small site located
at the junction of Katherines Way & Paycock Road and provides
the ideal location for many species of butterflies, bees and many
other invertebrate species as well as Tawny Owls and wandering
Pheasants.
