Wildspace
What is Wildspace!
From fun days to workdays, guided walks to evening talks, the
Wildspace! project is encouraging schools, youth groups,
communities and individuals to get more from Harlow’s green spaces
and have fun while doing so!
The Wildspace! project began in February 2004 and is
funded to work alongside local communities and interested groups to
encourage greater use and appreciation of wildlife sites as well as
increasing biodiversity and amount of Local Nature Reserves for
everyone to enjoy.
In particular, the Biodiversity Officer’s role will
include encouraging young people to understand more and get more
from their local environment, with opportunities to get involved in
caring for and managing sites for wildlife.
Volunteering Opportunities
Wildspace! Volunteers
The Wildspace! volunteers meet every Tuesday between 10am-1pm to
carryout tasks across the reserve such as scrub clearance, pond
dredging and bridge building. No previous experience is necessary
and all tools and equipment is provided.

Greenteam
The Greenteam is a recently formed group with the aim of
carrying out much needed conservation work on the Towns many
wildlife sites. The group meets once a month usually the second or
third Wednesday. Volunteers meet directly on site at 10am and
finish work at approximately 2pm. Once again no previous experience
is necessary and all tools and equipment is provided.
Volunteer Wardens
If you have a few hours to spare on a weekend why not help out
the Warden around the reserve carrying out general duties such as
opening up the bird hides in the morning, topping up the bird
feeders etc... For more information contact leanne.block@harlow.gov.uk or
