Active Retirement
What is the Active Retirement Scheme ?
The Active Retirement Scheme is a diverse programme of
town-wide leisure activities for all residents of Harlow over 50
years of age.
The scheme is not only about personal fitness, it's also about
getting involved in a variety of activities and adopting healthier
lifestyles. It also encourages people to make new friends whilst
enjoying new activities.
Membership is open to Harlow residents at a nominal fee. This
entitles you to participate in a wide range of organised activities
at minimal charges.
When you join the scheme you will receive a membership
information pack, which includes details of all the activities
available.
What activities are on offer?
There is a packed programme of activities which should
interest everyone.
If you are sporty there are many activities around the town
including: badminton, table tennis, exercise classes, bowls for
beginners and improvers, competitions, croquet, swimming and line
dancing.
If you are not interested in sport we have many recreational
activities to take part in, from rambling groups to coffee
mornings, craft workshops to collectors groups.
If you want to get away from it all, we offer a vast programme
of day trips at affordable prices.
When you become a member, your membership number will be
automatically entered into our free prize draw, where you could win
a voucher to spend in a local store.

PLEASE NOTE If you are taking up physical activity for the
first time, or have not played sport for a number of years, it is
advisable for you to speak to your G.P. before you begin.
