What is the difference between a Day Centre and a Day Hospital?

A Day Centre plays primarily a social role, with the emphasis being on interpersonal relations and participation in-group activities.  It plays a monitoring role and guides people into the right service for long term care.

It offers a valuable respite facility for families.

Trained staff not medical personnel usually staff it.

A Day Hospital is a treatment setting where emphasis is on remedial action and therapy.  Once the individual has been rehabilitated transfer to the Day Centre is often possible.

What activities go on in the Centre?

The Centre encourages personal and social development of individuals by providing a range of indoor games that maximise hand to eye coordination.

We hold quizzes, reminiscence, recall and discussions to encourage cognitive alertness.

We have  “Extend” exercise classes on Monday mornings from 9.30am to 12.30pm and dancing on Wednesday afternoons starting at 2.15pm.  For these 2 activities there is a small charge.

The Centre has a hair salon providing ladies hairdressing Monday to Friday, (telephone 01279 417571 for appointments), with a gents barber on Monday morning.

Special events are staged throughout the year and at Christmas.
