Revenues and Benefits
Harlow Council administers Housing Benefit and Council Tax
Benefit. These benefits help
people on low incomes to pay their rent and Council Tax.
The Council also collects Council Tax which is
a payment that most homes make to fund County Council, District
Council, Fire and Police authority services. Most dwellings
are subject to Council Tax whether they are a house, bungalow,
flat, maisonette, mobile home or houseboat, and whether they are
owned or rented. The Council is also responsible for collecting
Business Rates.
Residents who pay rent for their home to a
landlord or to the Council, or who pay board and lodgings to a
landlord, may be entitled to assistance through the Housing Benefit
scheme, whether or not they are working. The Council can offer
advice on whether you are entitled to Housing or Council Tax
Benefit and if so help you to make a claim.
