Manifesto Statement

With two years of experience of being an elected YEA member, I have gained enough skills to get my voice heard efficiently and effectively.  I will be organising a youth conference to get your thoughts and opinions on how to improve our town and community.

 

HYC Sub Group and Responsibilities

Spokesperson

Speak to the press to make statements on behalf of the youth council.  Need knowledge of press protocol.  Lead design of all publicity including posters, leaflets and information handouts.  Be prepared to be interviewed at short notice.

To attend and speak at special functions such as the Holocaust Memorial evening.  To ensure a deputy is always available to attend.

Chief Executive Liaison – To co-ordinate a small team of youth councillors and attend meetings with the Chief Executive of Harlow Council four times a year (formal).  To attend quarterly strategic meetings such as 2020 and CYPSP meetings. To attend quarterly Chief exec meetings with PR team.

 

Achievements

As a volunteer I have

v     Received a Jack Petchey award for selflessness

v     Gained new skills, eg. communication and presentation

v     Received a Trident Gold award

v     Gained confidence

v     Helped represent the young people of Harlow.

 

This has contributed to the work of my project and community as it has allowed me to voice my opinion more assertively and give my opinion more confidently.

 

This relates to my personal/career plans as I will be able to work with people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.  I will be able to do presentations confidently.
