Elected 2007 - 2009

Manifesto Statements

I’m in Harlow Youth Council already.  I’m confident and want to do better things for Essex like lower bus fares, get oyster cards for the county.  I believe I could do that for you, so vote for Charlotte, so I can achieve this.

Sub Group and Responsibilities

Environment Representative - Responsibility to attend all relevant meetings and consultations, to receive all information and to disseminate information to subgroup and full youth council meetings.  May also include Fairtrade issues.  Will also be the Environment & Community Committee Observer – Responsibility to attend quarterly adult committee meetings (formal), to observe and summarise committee activities and current issues.  To feedback to the full youth council meetings and lead in any youth council issues that may arise.

Achievements

As a volunteer I have

v     Voiced young peoples’ views and opinions

v     With others, have achieved getting a permanent place for the skate park

v     Gone to all the meetings

v     Become the Environment Representative

v     Gained new skills and friends

This has contributed to the work of my project and community as I have been able to be the voice of the young people of Essex and have represented them at meetings and consultations.  As the Environment Representative, I have been active in B.A.S. (British Antarctic Survey) and FairTrade issues.

This relates to my personal/career plans as when I leave school, I want to attend a military college to train to be an officer in the army.  This will be beneficial in my confidence and by sharing ideas.

Level Two “Certificate in Community Volunteering” qualification.

Level Two OCN Certificate "Communication Skills for Mentoring"
