Housing and the Gateway Project

Phase 1 - New homes for Harlow

A total of 750 new homes and apartments are being built by Barratt Homes on the 27 acre site off Fifth Avenue, Harlow

Building is currently taking place on the site of the former ski-slope and football stadium, with the first homes occupied in Summer 2007. The final phase of the development will be where the existing sportcentre stands, but only after the new community leisure centre is up and running.

Over 30 per cent of the homes are affordable – that’s homes for rent which local people, including key workers, can afford. Swan and Home housing associations are managing the rented properties.

A further 60 homes are scheduled to be built where the existing swimming pool stands in First Avenue.
