You'll need to show photo ID to vote in the upcoming elections. No ID? Apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate by 5pm Wednesday 24 April. Benefits text enquiry service

To make it as simple as possible for you to get in touch with us, we offer a text enquiry service. 

You can contact the Benefits office using your mobile phone by texting:

  • the keyword 'BENS' 
  • your claim number
  • your message 
  • and then send your text to 84433

There is a limit of 153 characters for each text.

All texts sent will be charged at your standard rate - there is no additional charge.

Your text message will go directly to our Benefits team, who will then text you a response or call you if their response is more detailed.

We cannot process MMS message (messages containing image, audio, or video content).

You can only use this text service for questions about Housing Benefit or Council Tax Support - we will not be able to respond to general enquires.

The service is confidential and no other company or organisations will be given your number for marketing purposes.
