Essex County Council is made up of 75 elected Councillors representing 70 Electoral Divisions. (65 Divisions elect one Councillor and 5 Divisions elect 2 Councillors) Elections are held every four years and the next scheduled election is due to take place in May 2017. There are three county divisions in Harlow - Harlow North, Harlow South East and Harlow West.

The election held on 4 May 2017 elected Essex County Councillors, one Councillor for Harlow North, one Councillor for Harlow South East and two Councillors for Harlow West.
