Join the volunteers at Herts & Essex Community Farm to manage the land, cultivating and harvest crops, partaking in construction projects and general maintenance of the land.
Volunteer days are every Saturday and Sunday from 10am until 2pm, with full inductions for new volunteers. Tea, coffee, biscuits and soup are all provided, and there are basic toilet facilities available.
They have enough tools and gloves for all volunteers but attendees are reminded to wear sensible footwear and clothes suitable for the weather as all activities are outside. Children are welcome to attend but must be accompanied by an adult aged over 18. The site is fully accessible by wheelchair and pram.
Herts and Essex Community Farm is a non-for-profit community project. They started in October 2013 as there was a need in the community for more growing spaces, with the purpose to increase access to fresh, healthy, sustainable food and provide a shared space for people to cultivate skills, get exercise and make friends.
The farm sits on an ex-allotment site in Fold Croft, Harlow and can be found by following the signs to the Harlow Jude Club. The farm is adjacent to the Fold Croft allotments.
