Harlow Council is looking for an experienced Elections Manager with the knowledge to run a busy Elections Office.
In this vital role, you will be ensuring the provision of a full professional elections service for the Council by providing professional advice on elections and the electoral register, supporting the Returning Officer and the Head of Governance in any dealings with political groups and their agents in connection with elections/referenda and managing the Elections Services’ budget.
Preferably, you will have a sound working knowledge and experience of relevant election work at a managerial level, including the management, co-ordination and administration of all aspects of the electoral registration process, including the successful preparation and completion of the electoral register and the management of all District, County, Parliamentary and Police Fire and Crime Commissioner elections and experience of managing, supporting and developing staff. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are key to this role.
A proven track record in electoral administration and demonstrable knowledge of the elections process, procedures and relevant legislation are essential. You will be computer literate with working knowledge of an electoral management system, ideally Xpress.
During election periods you must be able to work additional hours, including evenings and weekends to meet the required deadlines for the election process.You will be professional, flexible with working hours and be able to communicate effectively at all levels.
