Following the huge success of the Harlow is 70 Carnival in July 2017, Harlow Council will be holding another Carnival on Sunday 26 August 2018. The Carnival will leave Bush Fair shopping area and travel to the Showground at Harlow Town park where it will join the very popular Linkfest event.
The Council is looking for a number of individuals to work as Casual Community Event Stewards to ensure that the event runs safely and smoothly. The role will include crowd management; overseeing road closures, registering and processing Carnival vehicles and walking groups and providing various other support duties as directed by the Council’s Carnival Management Team. Stewards will work mainly as part of a small team, closely supervised by a Team Leader but should also be able to work independently using their own initiative and be able to communicate clearly and confidently with staff and members of the public.
Exact working times will be advised ahead of the event but Stewards will most likely be required to work between 9am and 3pm, although working times may be staggered to suit requirements of the event. The rate of pay is a £75 fixed fee.
All applicants will be required to complete a short application form detailing why they feel they are suitable for this position. You will be asked to confirm eligibility to work in the UK and availability and willingness to attend a short briefing session ahead of the event (W/C Monday 13 August 2018 and W/C Monday 20 August 2018).
