Regenerating Harlow
Revitalising Clifton Hatch, Old Harlow, Prentice Place &
Staple Tye
The East of England faces an
exciting future of regeneration and economic growth, so it is
important that Harlow is well-placed to take full advantage of
investment within the region.
Harlow Council has been working
with partners to improve the facilities and environment for local
people by attracting funding to the town. The Gateway Scheme,
development of the Town Centre and the new housing at Newhall
are just three examples of schemes that will help regenerate Harlow
to become the regions first choice location for new jobs and
investment in housing.
In February 2006 the Council
annouced that it had won nearly £10m of funding from the government
to spend on a business innovation centre and on improving some of
Harlow neighbourhoods. Four locations have been identified for
renewal: Clifton Hatch, Old Harlow, Prentice Place and Staple
Tye.
A series of public consultations
took place in June 2006 to explore options and possibilities for
each location; Harlow Council engaged Urbancanda a private company
specialising in public consultation to design, facilitate and
report back on a series of five public events.
Urbancanda have now produced a
report providing a key document highlighting the main issues and
results of all five public consultations and can be viewed by
