Wintertime Fun at Parndon Woods

Families are being encouraged to explore the winter wildlife at Parndon Wood Nature Reserve with lots of free fun events!

Parndon Wood Nature Reserve, run by Harlow Council, will be hosting some exciting events this winter. From night-walks to bird spotting and storytelling there is something for the whole family to enjoy.

Big Garden Bird Watch

Sunday 31 January 2010, 1pm-3pm

Join in the RSPB nationwide survey to discover what birds we have across Britain and close to home. Come along and help survey the birds found at Parndon Wood. You don’t need to be an expert, everyone can join in!  As well as spotting birds children can make a bird food cake and there will be lots of birdie arts and crafts too!

Night-walk

Tuesday 2 February 2010, 4.45pm-5.45pm

During Nature Club there will be an exciting night-walk to explore the woodland and its creatures in the dark!  There will also be fun night-time games and activities too!

Winnie-the-Pooh Story-time

Sunday 7 February 2010, 1pm-3pm

Parndon Wood becomes Hundred-Acre-Wood for the afternoon with stories of Pooh and his friends as well as games and activities including building a new house for Eeyore and going in search of a heffalump!

As well as these events Parndon Wood Nature Reserve is also open to the public every Sunday 11am-4pm and for Nature Club every Tuesday 3.45pm-5.45pm.

The events are supported by the Forest Funtasia Project, funded by the Big Lottery Fund, which enables them to be offered free of charge.

For more information on any of the events or to book a place please call 01279 430005 or email becky.naman@harlow.gov.uk. Please note that for all events children must be accompanied by an adult.
