Councillor Rob Eschle
Tributes are being paid to Harlow Councillor
Rob Eschle who passed away peacefully at home on Sunday 9 March
2008.
Joint Council Leader, Councillor Tony Durcan,
said: “I’m very sad to hear this news. Rob was a man of great
integrity, a hard working and dedicated Councillor who will be
sorely missed by the local community and the Council. Our thoughts
go out to his family and friends.”
Joint Council Leader, Councillor Chris
Millington, said: “I was so sorry to hear that Rob has passed
away. He was a Ward colleague of mine and also an Essex
County Councillor. He worked tirelessly for the community and will
be a great loss to Harlow and to the Council. Only last month
he was working to promote Harlow’s Fairtrade status, a subject very
dear to him. We will miss him.”
Leader of the Conservative Group, Councillor
Andrew Johnson, said: “Rob was deeply involved in the
community. He was a Governor at Harlow College, Vice
President of Young Concern, and had been a serving magistrate and a
teacher. His passing is a great loss to us all. My
prayers are with his family and many friends.”
Rob served as a Harlow Councillor between 1996
and 2008. He was elected as a Labour Councillor for Netteswell East
Ward in 1996, and was also elected for Great Parndon Ward in the
2001 Essex County Council elections. In 2004 he was
elected to the Bush Fair Ward.
Rob lived in Chapel Fields and leaves behind a
widow, children and grandchildren. No details are available at this
time about the funeral.
