Harlow pays tribute to armed services

Harlow Council held a special flag raising ceremony at the Civic Centre on 22 June in recognition of the work of Britain’s armed forces.

Harlow joined hundreds of other councils and organisations around the UK in raising a flag to mark the start of programme of activities culminating in National Armed Forces Day on 27th June.

The ceremony in Harlow was led by Council Chairman Cllr Edna Stevens, who made a short speech followed by the flag raising.

Cllr Stevens said: “We are pleased to be supporting this special event reminding us of how important our armed forces are to this country and to the people that they protect across the world. I would encourage people to come and add their support to our own ceremony on the 22nd June but also to visit the Ministry of Defence website to see how they can make their own contribution of remembrance and thanks.”
