Want a say on Council standards
Harlow Council would like to hear
from local residents who are interested in helping ensure that
the Council adhere to
the highest standards of conduct.
The role of the Council’s Standards Committee
is to promote high standards of conduct within the Council and also
to consider complaints relating to alleged breach of conduct by
elected Members. The committee is currently made up of 9
Councillors and two Independent Members (non Councillors), and the Council is
looking to appoint a third Independent Member as soon as
possible.
Applicants should have an interest in
standards in public life, particularly in local government,
together with an understanding of ethics and good governance.
Ideally, they will be able to demonstrate high standards of
personal integrity, be objective, independent and impartial.
Such appointments are voluntary,
although expenses may be paid. Meetings of the Committee will
normally be held in the evenings.
