The SX Urban Games takes place at Harlow Skatepark this coming
Saturday 7th August from 11am-4pm. The free event
will include a Skate Jam, BMX Jam, Mountain Bike Time Trials, Music
and DJs, Climbing Wall, Free Running exhibition and coaching,
Gymnastics Display, Street Dance from Makin’ Steps and a Tottenham
Hotspur Foundation Football Freestyler.
ECC Youth Services will also have a bus with
an Xbox, laptops and internet access and budding photographers will
be able to enter a photography competition by taking pictures and
sending them to sxurbangames@harlow.gov.uk.
Photographs will be selected and displayed in
the Gibbered Gallery during December, the same time the gallery
hosts ‘Journey To The Podium’ an exhibition linking artists to
potential Essex Olympians including some from Harlow.
The event is one of a series of events taking
place across Essex and is the latest Harlow Council event to be
inspired by London 2012. The series of events have been
granted the Inspire Mark the badge of the London 2012 Inspire
Programme. The London 2012 Inspire programme recognises
innovative and exceptional projects that are directly inspired by
the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Seb Coe, Chair, London Organising
Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games said:
“The SX Urban Games -
Harlow is encouraging young people to fulfil their
potential. I am proud that with the help of partners such as
Harlow Council we are
delivering on our vision to use the power of the Olympic Games and
Paralympic Games to boost participation in sport and active
leisure.”
