Playgrounds Decommissioning

The Council is spending over £1m bringing new and improved playgrounds throughout the town. There were too many, too poor quality playgrounds that couldn't be maintained properly. The way forward is to have fewer but better quality playgrounds. Specialists have told us that, even with less provision, Harlow still has more "playground" for each person than most other towns.

The following playgrounds are being closed:

Blackbush spring

Briars

Cock Green

Denby Grange

Downs

Felmongers

Fennells

Guilford South

Hull Grove

Jocelyns

Latton Common

Little Pynchons

Longbanks

Pennymead

Perry Spring

Seymours

Sycamore Field

Tilbury Mead

Town Park Toddler

Vicarage wood

Whieldon

Wooding Gr

Larger alternative playgrounds are no more than15 minutes walk away from all the above sites and there are closer smaller sites. The Adventure Playground in the Town Park also has some really exciting equipment for older children.

It is our intention to return all decommissioned playgrounds to grassland.
