Celebrating Harlow being 70 years old this year is the exhibition Picute Harlow, exhibiting paintings, drawings, sculpture and prints depicting various aspects of Harlow. It will include prints of sculptures in Harlow made by students at Harlow College, large colourful impressions of features of the town by Bob Boast, prints by Jane Stobart and subtle paintings by Jackie Chakravarty who live in Harlow. Contributions by artists who have studios at Gatehouse Arts include concrete sculptures by Jim Brown based on Harlow architecture, paintings by Jim Montgomery, Hung Voong, Robert Davies and Charlie Browne of features of the town, some depicted in a fairly abstract way and Richard Sobey presents a mixed media piece with digital content inviting the viewer to explore Harlow in new ways. Drawings and paintings by Alan Burgess and Jane Horton will concentrate on natural subjects in and around Harlow.
This exhibition will be rich and varied and it is hoped that it will encourage its visitors to look at our town in a different light and appreciate some of the diversity it has to offer.
