Our Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) assesses the amount of land that is available for housing development in the local area.
This is a key part of the Local Plan evidence base because it looks at whether Harlow has enough land to meet the community's need for homes.
The assessment’s main role is to:
- identify sites with potential for housing
- assess their housing potential
- assess when they are likely to be developed
The assessment does not decide whether a site should be developed, this is still done through the Local Plan or a planning application.
