Statement of accounts

We have to publish a statement of accounts annually, for each financial year.

The preparation and publication of the statement has to follow statutory requirements and timescales.

After the end of each financial year (March 31) we will draft the statement of accounts. We will publish the draft statements, usually around June, and advertise that they are open for inspection on our public notices page.

The inspection period lasts for 30 working days. During this time, you can:

  • inspect the accounts
  • ask the external auditor questions about the accounts
  • object to the accounts

An independent, external auditor will conduct an audit of the draft statement.

Once the auditor has concluded their audit, we will publish the final statement of accounts.

You can download and view our annual reports and statements of accounts. If you are unable to download these documents or want us to make copies for you, you can contact us.

For more information on your statutory rights, you can read the NAO guide to local authority accounts.
