Foster carers change livesInterested in fostering?

Essex County Council (ECC) are keen to hear from anyone interested in fostering, particularly carers who are able to offer placements for children over eight, children with complex needs, sibling groups and children with disabilities.

Who needs fostering?

Fostering is a way of providing a loving home to children who are unable to live with their birth families. Children come into the care system for a variety of reasons; it might be because of an illness or crisis in the family, or because they have experienced abuse or neglect.

Some children will need fostering for a short time until they can return home, while others will need fostering longer term, possibly until they grow up.

How to become a foster carer

To become an approved foster carer you will need to complete an assessment process. ECC aim to make our fostering process as straightforward as possible and a step-by-step guide is available on ECC website - fostering.
