Kickstart Scheme

The Kickstart Scheme provides funding to employers to create new 6-month job placements for 16 to 24 year olds who are currently on Universal Credit and at risk of long-term unemployment.

For each job placement, funding will cover :

  • 100% of the relevant National Minimum Wage for 25 hours a week
  • the associated employer National Insurance contributions
  • employer minimum automatic enrolment contributions

You can find more information on the Kickstart scheme on GOV.UK

Applications to the Kickstart Scheme have to be made for at least 30 job placements at a time. Businesses which cannot provide that many job placements, need to use an intermediary who will gather together opportunities from a number of small businesses.

Harlow Council are acting as an intermediary organisation for the scheme.

If any local business is considering offering a young person a 6 month job placement, you can register your interest by contacting our Regeneration team
