Self employed

If you are self-employed and your income has been affected by the coronavirus outbreak then you may be able to claim a grant through the coronavirus (COVID-19) Self-employment Income Support Scheme

Benefits

You may also be able to get support through Housing Benefit, Council Tax Support or Universal Credit.

Existing claimants

If you are already receiving either Housing Benefit or Council Tax Support and your income has reduced then you need to tell us so that we can reassess your entitlement.

If your income has reduced, but you are still trading, then please email hdc.benefits@harlow.gov.uk to request a form to tell us your new income. You will need to predict what your income will be for the next 3 months, after which we will review your claim again.

If you have temporarily stopped trading, then please email hdc.benefits@harlow.gov.uk to tell us of this. In your email, please tell us the date that you stopped trading.

New claimants

If you are not currently claiming any of the benefits mentioned above then you will need to make an application.

Most working-age households will need to apply for Universal Credit for help with their rent and living costs. You can apply for Universal Credit on GOV.UK

If you are liable to pay Council Tax and have less than £6000 in savings (or less than £16,000 if you are pension age) then you can also apply for Council Tax Support

To assess your Council Tax Support claim, we will need information on your income.
