We are looking for a creative, proactive and motivated individual to work within our small, but busy Communications team.

You will be joining the team just as a peer review has been completed which sets out a new direction for how we can improve our communications. You will be working with the team to develop and improve the way we communicate with our employees, residents, and partners. If you have ideas, enthusiasm, and a passion for producing excellent communications with results we want to hear from you. 

You will also be joining the council at an important time in the organisation’s transformation. A new Chief Executive is being recruited to lead the organisation and the council is working hard to deliver its ambitions which include regenerating the town centre, building new council homes, and restoring pride in the town. Coming from a journalistic or marketing communications background with excellent written and verbal skills, you will have the opportunity to help transform the way we tell the council’s story. 

As Communications Officer you will undertake a wide range of duties including leading on communication projects, creating engaging content for social media and other internal and external communications channels, and liaising with the media. You will also need to work proactively to find opportunities to communicate our work in new and impactful ways.
