Harlow Museum & Walled Gardens is a wonderful local asset with historical artefacts and beautiful heritage walled gardens. Visitors travel to our venue from all over the country attracted to the Medieval site, walled gardens and the changing exhibitions and activities.
We are looking add to our small and friendly team. You will be comfortable talking to people, have a welcoming polite manner, some knowledge about Harlow, interested in solving problems for people and most importantly will be organised. You will be willing to work within museum ethics and Harlow Council policies. You will have some experience of delivering a high standard of customer care, in person, on the phone and in writing, you will be expected to guide and engage visitors with our collections, exhibitions, activities, and events. Our visitors are local families and residents, day trippers, groups of school children, curious passers-by and sometimes specialists in further education. You will also assist with archiving and researching ideally have some experience in this.
We have regular planning and communication meetings where you will be encouraged to share your ideas. We have a fabulous team of volunteers who you will work alongside and support on a day-to-day basis. You will be involved in the smooth operation of the museum, undertaking administration functions and contributing to security and safety.
