We are looking for an experienced, innovative and motivated Senior Licensing officer to join our team at Harlow Council. The role is very varied, interesting and fast paced. The successful candidate will need to be able to undertake and have responsibility for a wide range of licensable activities including: Private Hire and Hackney Carriage Taxi Licensing, Licensing Act; Gambling Act and Lotteries.  This particular role will predominantly be involved in the Private Hire and Hackney Carriage Taxi Licensing.  This work will include licensing queries, complaints, enforcement and policy work.

The Post also requires occasional evening and weekend work.  Ideally you will have worked in a Local Authority enforcement environment previously and have knowledge of Licensing Committees and Sub Committees, enforcement processes for non-compliance and knowledge of using a case Management system. Knowledge of Uniform and Lalpac is desirable.

In addition to this, you will have strong communication skills and be able to provide advice to customers in writing, face to face in reception and over the telephone. You will possess excellent administrative and IT skills demonstrating an ability to work within a busy and demanding environment. A proven track record of working within a pressurised, customer focussed environment, coupled with the ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically at all levels is required.
