We are going to be lighting up the Civic Centre in purple this Wednesday 27 January to mark Holocaust Memorial Day 2021.
Holocaust Memorial Day takes place each year on 27 January. The theme this year' Holocaust Memorial Day is 'Be the light in the darkness' - it encourages everyone to reflect on the depths humanity can sink to, but also the ways in which individuals and communities have resisted darkness before, during and after genocide.
In addition to the purple lighting, we will also be flying the Holocaust Memorial Day flag and we will be streaming a pre-recorded commemoration service on our YouTube channel and Facebook page from 7.30pm on Wednesday to mark the occasion.
The service will include contributions from the Harlow Jewish community, the Chair of Harlow Council, politicians, other faith groups and a performance by Razed Roof.
We hope you can all join us to mark this important occasion.
