Local and Police and Crime Commissioner elections postponed

Published date

The local council election and the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner election, which were due to be held on 7 May 2020, have been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

We mentioned these elections on page 3 of the latest issue of Harlow Times, but these elections will no longer be taking place in May 2020.

The decision was made by the government after the Electoral Commission raised concerns about the impact of the virus on those delivering the election, campaigners and voters.

The Cabinet Office will bring forward legislation to postpone the elections for 12 months, until May 2021.

We will provide updates on our latest election news page when we have more information.
