You'll need to show photo ID to vote in the upcoming elections. No ID? Apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate by 5pm Wednesday 24 April. If you can't vote in person, you still have time to apply for a proxy vote by 5pm on Wednesday 24 April. Find all the key details on our election news page.

 

Death notification

We know there is a lot to organise when someone dies.

If you are a member of the family, the executor, the solicitor or simply a friend, who is dealing with the estate of the deceased, please contact us to let us know.

You can contact us on 01279 446655 or visit us in person at the Civic Centre.

You will need to bring an original copy of the death certificate when you come in - we will make a copy.

You can register a death on the Essex County Council website.

Once you inform us, we will update our records for:

  • benefits
  • Council Tax
  • housing and garages
  • voting and elections
  • bins and recycling
