December 2014: Emerging Strategy and Further Options Consultation Summary Report

The Emerging Strategy and Further Options document was consulted on in Spring 2014. It presented five examples of how new housing development could be accommodated within Harlow. All responses to the consultation were analysed and collated and will be considered when the next stage of the Local Development Plan is considered. A consultation summary report – which details how the consultation was undertaken, the responses to the questionnaire and main issues raised from comments – has been published. September 2014: Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) Review

The SCI sets out how and when the Council will consult with the local community on planning matters. Following national changes to the planning system, the Council reviewed the original SCI (adopted in 2007) and consulted on a draft SCI Review. The SCI Review, which replaced the original SCI, was finalised and adopted by the Council on 18 September 2014. More information on the SCI

April 2014: Harlow Local Development Plan consultation

Harlow Council's new Local Plan called the Harlow Local Development Plan was consulted on between 14 April to 30 May 2014.

January 2014: New Local Plan consultation

Special Cabinet on 23 January 2014 gave the go ahead to undertake public consultation in the Spring on Harlow’s new Local Plan. This is the next stage in the preparation of the Plan, which will guide where future new housing, jobs and services will go in the town up until 2031. The consultation will involve asking the public and business for views on a series of development scenarios which aim to provide more housing and jobs. The consultation will also include looking at where housing could go in the town. More information on the new Local Plan

January 2014: Harlow Open Spaces and Green Infrastructure Study

The Harlow Open Spaces and Green Infrastructure Study was awarded a “Highly Commended” award at the Landscape Institute Awards 2013. The Study is technical work which assesses the quality and value of open spaces across Harlow and sets quantity, quality and accessibility standards for the new Local Plan. December 2013: Conservation Area Appraisals and Management Plans

There are seven Conservation Areas in Harlow and the Area Appraisal and Management Plan for Old Harlow is now available. The roles of a Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan include defining the special architectural and historic interest of a Conservation Area, reviewing the boundaries of the area, identifying problems and highlighting opportunities for enhancement, and providing a framework for planning decisions within the area. November 2013: Evidence Base documents

July 2013: London Road South Local Development Order Update

In 2012, Harlow Council undertook public consultation on the London Road South Local Development Order (LDO). Following this consultation and further stakeholder engagement, the LDO was submitted to the Secretary of State and subsequently adopted by Harlow Council in July 2013. June 2013: Confirmed Morley Grove Article 4 Directions

In the summer of 2012, Harlow Council consulted on two Article 4 Directions affecting new Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) in Morley Grove. Following these consultations, the Article 4 Directions have been confirmed. More information on Morley Grove Article 4 Directions

In 2012, Harlow Council undertook public consultation on the London Road North Local Development Order (LDO).
