Emergency accommodation provision extended for rough sleepers

Monday, 26 February, 2018

Harlow Council continues to work with Streets2Homes to provide emergency accommodation for anyone sleeping rough in Harlow during the current severe weather spell.

Harlow’s severe weather emergency protocol was activated last Thursday (22 February 2018) and has so far assisted 28 rough sleepers.

The provision includes hotel accommodation and local churches as part of the Hope4Harlow project which runs throughout January and February.

The Council provides emergency accommodation when temperatures are forecast to drop under 0 Degrees Celsius or below for three nights or more. This provision will be reviewed on a daily basis alongside the monitoring of weather forecasts.

The emergency accommodation is funded by the Council with Street2homes coordinating the provision and making contact with rough sleepers.
