Harlow Youth Councillors have once again been getting involved in the great work being done to improve the area around the historic Oakwood Pond.
On Saturday 19 January Youth Councillors and Council staff spent the day planting 500 trees along the cycle path next to the pond which, in time, will form a protective hedge around the area and further add to the beautiful surroundings created as a result of the work that has taken place at the pond over the last 15 months.
Last year the Youth Councillors planted 450 trees in the area. Unfortunately some didn’t grow due to the very hot, dry summer weather. It is hoped that by planting these trees earlier in the year more will survive and thrive.
We’d like to say well done to all the Youth Councillors that braved the cold and gave up their time to be a part of the restoration of this local beauty spot.
