Green waste subscription service

Cancel

If you want to cancel your green waste service you need to give us notice by phone, email or in person.

You will not be entitled to any refund, but we may consider offering a refund for the rest of the year in exceptional circumstances.

You can resubscribe to the green waste service at any time if you change your mind.  This will be subject to a £10 rejoining fee.

Changes

If you move to another eligible house in Harlow, you need to contact us ahead of the moving date to request a transfer. You should take your bin to the new house with you when you move. If the new house is not suitable for a wheelie bin, we will provide you with compostable bags.

Refunds

We will not give a refund if you do not put your bin or bags out on a particular week.

We will not give a refund if you do not put your bin or bags out at the right collection point.

We will not give a refund if the compostable bags are stored incorrectly or damaged. 

If you include items in your bin or bags that are not accepted on the service, we will not take your waste and will not give a refund. It is your responsibility to remove the items not accepted and put your bin or bags out on your next collection day.

We will not give a refund for delayed collection due to severe weather or emergency conditions. In the event of the collection being disrupted, you can check the latest collection information online

We will only take 4 compostable bags per collection. If you put out more than 4 compostable bags these will not be collected and you will run out of bags. You will then need to purchase additional bags.

Cancel

If you need to cancel your bag booking you must give at least 24 hours’ notice. You can give us notice by phone, email or in person.

Changes

You must make any changes to your booking at least 24 hours before your scheduled collection.

There is no guarantee that we will be able to add the additional items to your original booking if the service is at capacity for that day, or if you have exceeded the number of items. You may need to make another booking with a new collection date. You can only add additional items by phone or in person.

Refunds

We will only accept the council's compostable bags. We will not collect your own bags and will not offer any refund for the cost of your own bags.

We will not give a refund if you present bags which are not on the original booking. We will only take the number of items on the booking.

We will not give a refund if the compostable bags are stored incorrectly or damaged. 

If you include items in bags that are not accepted on the service, we will not take the bags and will not give a refund for the bags. It is your responsibility to remove the items not accepted on the service and rebook the bags.

If you have left your items out to be collected and they are taken, either before or on the day of collection by anyone other than the council’s appointed contractor, we will not offer a refund for the bags.

If collections are delayed due to circumstances beyond our control such as bad weather or break down of vehicles, we will not offer a refund. We will offer you an alternative collection if necessary.
