Garden waste collections latest

Published date

We are aware that garden waste collections have been delayed in some areas for a number of days. We are sorry to our garden waste service subscribers and to those who have booked collections and we thank you for your patience while we work with Veolia to improve the situation.

We ask that you continue to leave your garden waste bins and bags out and they will be collected. If you are a garden waste subscriber you can check if your collection has been rescheduled on our self service page. If the crew have been to your area and missed your collection please complete our missed waste and recycling form

Bin collections in Harlow are currently impacted by the national shortage of HGV drivers, and requirements for workers to self-isolate when reported as COVID-19 contacts. To help catch up with garden waste collections, the food waste service has recently been suspended to allow for more resources to be allocated to other services. Veolia also plan to work extra time over the coming weekend to help with the backlog.

We know that some residents have quite rightly become frustrated with the delays and we appreciate that the garden waste service is something residents pay extra for. Some residents have taken the situation out on staff who are working to try to help. Throughout the difficult times we have tried to find a way to carry on with our garden waste collections as we know this service is much valued by those who pay and use it.  We are hopeful that the measures we have in place will improve the situation.
