As you know, we took the decision to suspend all garden waste collections from 1 April so we can focus on our non-recycling and recycling collections at this time.
As soon as we are able to, we will introduce our improved and less expensive garden waste service as planned.
As Essex County Council has also closed the recycling centre on River Way until further notice, you may be wondering what to do with any garden waste you may have. We know many of you might be taking advantage of staying at home by working more out in your garden.
Home composting is an easy and environmentally friendly way of making your garden waste work for you.
Love Essex has lots of information on how to get started with home composting – you can either build your own compost heap or you can purchase a compost bin from them at a low cost.
All the details you need can be found on the Love Essex website
We ask you to avoid trying to dispose of garden waste by burning it on a bonfire, as green waste does not burn well and any bonfire affects air quality and potentially creates a nuisance for others.
