Update on 21 February 2022:
The clear-up operation around Harlow following Storm Eunice is continuing and Storm Franklin has also had significant impact on HTS resources and caused further damage around the town.
As we would expect there was significant demand from residents reporting fallen trees and debris as well roofing, guttering and fencing damage. HTS teams and sub-contractors have worked through the weekend to deal with emergency calls as they arise and calls are still coming in. This morning up to 11am the HTS call centre dealt with 245 requests mostly relating to fencing repairs that are required.
Trees
Since Friday (18 February 2022) HTS has attended to over 90 reports of significant tree damage. Fallen trees continue to be reported to the council. HTS continue to respond to the reports on a priority basis.
Roofs
A significant number of reports of loose tiles continue to be received. HTS are putting up scaffolding required to properties over the next day or so. The council’s housing team is in contact with tenants who have suffered significant roof damage.
Fences
Calls reporting broken fence panels continue to increase with over 200 requests received to date. HTS continue to send teams out to make safe and this work will continue into this week and next week.
Debris clearance
HTS teams continue to clear storm debris from the town’s cycle track network.
Taking care
Residents are advised to continue taking care when using parks, open spaces and cycle tracks and areas where there are lots of trees.

Update on 19 February 2022:
HTS staff have been out since early this morning continuing work on clearing and making safe fallen trees across the town.
The first job of the day was to clear a tree blocking access to and from homes in Old Harlow.
If you see a fallen tree this weekend please report it to the out of hours emergency service 01279 446666.
Please take care when using the town’s cycle tracks. HTS have teams clearing the debris and leaf blowing to keep cyclists and pedestrians safe. However, there is still currently lots of debris along the routes.
Update at 5pm on 18 February 2022:
HTS have attended to around 60 reports of significant tree damage across the town. There has been no personal injuries reported from these. HTS have worked their way through the reports and prioritised the most important due to the volume of reports. Teams continue to work until it gets dark and will continue to pick up remaining jobs in the morning (19 February)
We continue to strongly advise residents to not go walking in wooded areas or parks.
Reports of loose roof tiles on council properties continue to be received. HTS have attended a council property in Canons Brook which has been damaged by a tree. Temporary heating has been provided to the family and the council’s housing team are assisting the family.
Calls reporting broken fence panels continue to increase with around 80 requests received today. HTS teams have been out today and this work will continue into the weekend and next week.
HTS will be working over the weekend with an additional 20 staff to help with the clearing up operation. The clear up will roll over into next week.

HTS have attended to around 45 reports of significant tree damage across the town. Fallen tree reports continue to be received by the council. HTS continue to work their way through the reports to make the trees safe.
We continue to strongly advise residents to not go walking in wooded areas or parks.
Reports of loose roof tiles on council properties continue to be received. The council home in Upper Mealines has been attended by HTS and the council’s housing team and the family are being supported.
Calls reporting broken fence panels continue to increase with over 57 requests received in the last few hours. HTS are sending teams out to make safe during this afternoon. This work will now continue into the weekend.
HTS will be working over the weekend with an additional 15 staff to help with the clearing up operation.

There have also been a good number of calls for fallen fences and HTS are attending to make safe those that cause an obstruction or safety issue
