Statement on Harlow Town Football Club

Harlow Town Football Club yesterday (7 December 2022) took the difficult decision to immediately resign from the Southern League, The Essex Senior Football Reserve League and The Eastern Regional Women’s Football League.

The Deputy Leader of the Council, Councillor Dan Swords, has issued the following joint statement with the MP for Harlow, Robert Halfon, on the concerning situation with the club: 

“We are deeply saddened to hear of the news from the football club and are extremely concerned by the recent developments. 

“Harlow has an extremely rich footballing history, and we will do everything possible to support the club and protect football in our town.

"We have written to the Chairman of the Club to arrange for urgent  discussions on the situation. We ask that all involved parties come together to find a way forward and commit to doing all we can to support the future of Harlow Town Football Club.
 
"Our thoughts are with the brilliant fans, hardworking volunteers, staff and players at the club, and we will ensure every possible step is taken to support them at this time."
